What should I do if my car breaks down?
Call AXA first – any time day or night! In Switzerland call 0800 809 809, outside of Switzerland call +41 58 218 11 00. This is the only way to take advantage of all the services we offer. We organize the breakdown assistance and a rental car for your onward or home journey. If there are no rental cars available, we turn to other means of transport.
What happens if my electric vehicle breaks down?
We can help you with this too. It’s not easy to push your EV to the nearest electrical outlet because EVs do not have a mechanical clutch. If your EV isn’t working, it could be because:
- The traction battery is discharged and you will need a mobile charging station.
- The starter battery is discharged even though the traction battery still has a charge. This is usually simple to fix.
In both cases, you are in good hands with AXA Roadside Assistance because we will be there right away to give you competent help. Only professionals know how to tow an EV correctly.

Traffic rules abroad: What fines could you find yourself facing?
Road traffic laws in other European countries are sometimes even stricter than those in Switzerland. Take Italy for example: Driving with a blood/alcohol level of 1.5‰ can result in your car being subject to a forced auction.
