It can happen in an instant: The violin case doesn’t close properly and your valuable instrument is suddenly lying on the ground. Your cat knocks over your favorite Lalique carafe or a painting is accidentally damaged when being hung. Musical instruments and art works are not just exposed to many risks in the home, so it’s good to know that your favorite items are comprehensively insured.

Frequently asked questions

  • What damage is covered by AXA’s musical instrument insurance or art insurance?

We cover the cost of repairs or replacement of your musical instrument or art work if it is lost, damaged or stolen.

In the event of theft or burglary, we give you the replacement value at the time of the claim up to the maximum sum insured listed in the policy for the individual item.

  • I already have household contents insurance. Why do I need extra instrument and art insurance?

AXA valuables insurance gives you comprehensive cover for your precious favorite items: The insurance cover of this supplementary insurance is much higher compared to household contents insurance.

Instrument and art insurance gives you comprehensive protection for your favorite items against theft, loss, damage or destruction on a worldwide basis. In the event of a claim, you receive the full amount with supplementary valuables insurance from AXA.

It's important to point out that items insured above the valuables insurance do not have to be included in the premium total of your household contents insurance.

  • Is my instrument also covered in other countries?

In addition to the classic risks such as theft, loss, damage or destruction, our valuables insurance also covers the following damage whenever you travel inside and outside of Switzerland: Transportation routes, hiring, damage caused by being dropped, for example, and simple theft.

Please note: If you commission a third party (e.g. forwarding agent) with the transport, you are not covered for the financial consequences of any damage.

  • Are repairs to musical instruments and art works also covered by this supplementary insurance?

We cover the cost of repairs or replacement of your instruments or art works if they are lost, damaged or stolen.

  • Can I just take out instrument and art insurance?

Yes, this is possible with AXA. You can just take out our valuables insurance for watches & jewelry as well as for instruments & art. You don’t have to have household contents insurance with AXA.
