What is an apprenticeship as a computer scientist specializing in application development with federal vocational diploma (EFZ) like?

The apprenticeship as a computer scientist specializing in application development with federal vocational diploma (EFZ) is only offered at our Head Office in Winterthur. The commercial training program lasts four years and starts in August.

Foundation year (first year of apprenticeship)

Together with your fellow apprentices, you learn the basics about developing programs and apps in the first year of the apprenticeship. In group work and projects, you will develop websites with database connections and learn the basics about various types of programming. Furthermore, you will be encouraged in your personal development and will find out what it means to be part of a dynamic team. Our internal training center, located right next to Winterthur’s main train station, is your workplace for the entire program.

Inter-company courses

During your apprenticeship, in addition to vocational college and your basic training at AXA, your training company, you will attend so-called inter-company courses. Since AXA is an accredited inter-company course center, these courses also take place at our training center in Winterthur.

For me, the interaction with fellow apprentices and vocational trainers is one of the biggest advantages of my apprenticeship at AXA. The daily tasks are also varied and I enjoy them a lot.
