Interest on 2025 retirement assets: 4.0%
Thanks to the adjustment of its investment strategy in the middle of the year and the very positive performance of the investment markets in recent months, the AXA Foundation for Occupational Benefits has achieved a very good performance. Over the past three years, the Foundation has strengthened its fluctuation reserves and now has a very good financial and structural risk capacity. Given this strong starting position, the Board of Trustees has decided to allow active insureds to share in the above-average success for 2025 and to pay interest of 4.0% on retirement assets (mandatory and extra-mandatory). This interest rate is significantly higher than the OPA minimum interest rate of 1.25%.

Individualized order of beneficiaries for lump-sum death benefits: Even more flexible from 2026 
The Board of Trustees is committed to state-of-the-art occupational benefits provision that takes account of the individual needs of its insureds. Since the beginning of 2025, insureds have had the opportunity to individually adapt the order of beneficiaries for lump-sum death benefits to their personal circumstances. The Board of Trustees has now decided to further increase this flexibility: Previously, persons in groups d) to f) could only be designated as beneficiaries if there were no persons in group c). Now, you can designate persons in groups d) to f) as beneficiaries even if there are persons in group c), provided that the latter are not designated as beneficiaries.
An example: You have a partner and a child from a previous relationship who is not entitled to an orphan’s pension. You can now designate this child as a beneficiary, provided you do not designate your partner as a beneficiary. This was not possible until now.
The occupational benefits fund regulations will therefore be amended with effect from January 1, 2026. Additional information can be found on the website or in the factsheet.

New interest and pension participation model
Due to the new investment strategy effective July 1, 2025, the Board of Trustees has adjusted the interest rate model. The new guidelines provide for a higher interest rate on retirement assets in favor of active insureds than was previously the case. At the same time, in the interests of intergenerational fairness, the Board of Trustees has defined guidelines for determining inflation compensation and, if necessary, further pension participation. Both the interest rate on retirement assets and any pension participation are based on the Foundation’s coverage ratio.

New investment strategy from July 1, 2025
In the first half of 2025, the newly elected Board of Trustees intensively discussed the future prospects of the Foundation. The Board of Trustees wants to continue offering its insureds fair and affordable benefits in order to maintain the long-term financial security of the Foundation. A review of the investment strategy has shown that these goals can be achieved even better with a cautious increase in risk. The new investment strategy has already been implemented for liquid investments. For illiquid investments, the previous capital commitments and the development plan have been confirmed.

Civil partnerships do not need to be reported
Previously, couples living together had to notify their pension fund if they wanted to provide their partner with a pension in the event of death. This advance notification is no longer necessary for collective foundations managed by AXA. The current pension fund regulations do not require notification. For this reason, the “Confirmation of civil partnership” notification form has been removed. Whether the partner is entitled to draw pension benefits is only assessed at the time of the insured’s death. Further information on civil partnerships can be found in the Foundation’s Regulations.

Efficient personnel management for employers thanks to “ELM”
Optimize your personnel management with the electronic salary reporting procedure (ELM). You can transmit staff and salary changes automatically and directly from your payroll software to AXA. Whether the changes involve new employees joining, departures, or salary changes – the data are processed securely and promptly. To use the ELM service you need a payroll software tool certified to Swissdec standard, as well as an insurance profile.

Interest on 2024 retirement assets
For 2024, insureds’ retirement assets will earn an overall rate of interest of:

• BVG mandatory benefits 1.75 %
• Extra-mandatory benefits 3.50 %

Updating the range of benefits: New options for insureds
The AXA Foundation for Occupational Benefits is committed to providing occupational benefits that reflect today’s world, taking into account changing social trends and individual needs. The Foundation introduced new options for insureds at the start of 2025. 

With the individual order of beneficiaries, insureds can now decide for themselves who is entitled to what amount of the insured lump-sum death benefits. 

In addition, insureds with extra-mandatory retirement assets of at least 30% will be able to adapt the amount of retirement and partner pensions in line with their individual circumstances when they retire. Insureds can specify their preferred option when they register for retirement. No action is required before then.
