Commitment for a good cause is a long-held tradition at our company. With its Foundation for Prevention, AXA makes a lasting contribution to improved safety on our roads. Our employees support projects across the globe that are social, environmental, and educational through both donations and voluntary work assignments.

AXA Foundation for Prevention

As Switzerland's largest motor vehicle insurer, we want to help make Swiss roads safer. The AXA Foundation for Prevention is committed to improving Swiss road safety. Our clients, the public, and all children benefit from our many prevention measures.

Tasks & projects

  • Promotion of research projects

    Are you planning a research project on road safety and looking for a partner?

    Send your funding application to the Foundation for Prevention. The management of the foundation will review all incoming applications and subsequently send you a written acceptance or rejection.

    Your funding application must be submitted in writing. The Foundation for Prevention would be glad to answer any preliminary questions you may have.

  • Max the Badger

    Everyone knows him. Children love him. Max the Badger is the best-known of many successful prevention projects of the AXA Foundation for Prevention.

    Greater road safety for children

    In 2009, the Foundation for Prevention together with the NordSüd-Verlag developed the figure "Max the Badger." In a playful manner, the clever badger shows children the rules of safe behavior in road traffic. The Foundation also supports parents and teachers in traffic education.

AXA Hearts in Action

The most valuable thing we can give to society is our time and commitment. This idea is behind the global initiative "AXA Hearts in Action." AXA  employees invest some of their time for others or the environment. An average of 800 employees in Switzerland demonstrate their commitment every year by carrying out several thousand hours of volunteer work. 

Examples of the outdoor volunteer work of our employees 

  • Reforestation with the mountain forest protection project
    Our employees contribute to projects to maintain and reforest protected forest areas and moorland as well as to promote mixed woodland.
  • Outdoor volunteering with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) (German)
    Employees help increase biodiversity and improve habitats.
  • Sustainable development of mountain regions with the organization Bergversetzer (German)
    By volunteering in projects with the organization Bergversetzer, our employees contribute to increasing biodiversity and the sustainable development of mountain regions.
  • Outdoor volunteering at the BirdLife Center
    In Neeracherried, our employees weed neophytes and shrubs and make a valuable contribution to protecting and maintaining native plants.

Examples of social assignments 

  • Application training for young people
    Together with Young Enterprise Switzerland (YES), around 10 employees conduct application training for students in secondary education.
  • Christmas present campaign 
    With donations of money and items, employees helped the Swiss Red Cross in Geneva to fill Christmas baskets with new, age-appropriate Christmas presents for over 4,600 children.
  • Assignments with the Brühlgutstiftung (German)
    Our employees support people with disabilities at the Brühlgutstiftung with their activities, thus promoting social exchange and a mutual understanding for one another.
