  • What does Legal Advice PLUS offer?

    Legal Advice PLUS is one of the seven flexible modules that make up AXA-ARAG personal legal protection insurance. It entitles you to three hours of advice on all issues relating to Swiss law. If you have selected other modules, legal advice on the relevant subjects is insured under the respective module and not counted toward the three hours. 

    For example, if you have taken out Legal Advice PLUS in conjunction with the Home & Everyday, Mobility & Travel, Health & Personal Insurance, Work, and Partnership & Family modules as part of our “carefree life” package, our experts could help you in the following cases, among others: 

    • Major building conversions (costing more than CHF 200,000)
    • Questions about immigration law and residence permits for foreign nationals, e.g. applying for a C permit
    • Contract reviews, e.g. for large transactions such as buying a plot of land
    • Company law and other issues relating to self-employment, from leasing premises to hiring staff and setting up a limited-liability company 
  • What’s the difference between legal advice and legal protection insurance?

    Legal advice is all about answering your questions on legal issues. We look at your case with you, make recommendations for what to do next, and clarify anything you’re unsure about.

    With legal protection insurance, in addition to providing legal advice, we actively support you in the event of a legal dispute by drafting documents, taking legal action, and covering lawyer’s fees and court costs.

  • What is the advantage of Legal Advice PLUS when compared with a consultation with a lawyer?

    With Legal Advice PLUS, our customers can draw on the expertise of an entire law firm as it were. You can contact us whenever you have a question about your legal standing or about the right procedure to adopt in a tricky situation. Around 140 legal experts from all areas of law provide you with comprehensive and professional advice. This saves you the effort of searching for a specialized law firm and – not exactly a secondary concern – of footing their bill.

  • Can I get advice on existing legal cases?

    No. You’re only entitled to legal advice on matters arising after you take out the insurance.

    Here’s what the General Insurance Conditions say: “The insurance covers a legal case whose cause or triggering event falls within the contract term.”

  • How exactly does Legal Advice PLUS work? How are the three hours of consultation measured?

    With Legal Advice PLUS, you receive three hours of consultation each year and can contact us with regard to all areas of Swiss law. You can contact us by phone, e-mail or file a case online. If the matter is covered by Legal Advice PLUS, the imaginary timer starts the moment that our experts start analyzing documents, carrying out research into your legal position or advising you over the phone. 

  • Are there areas of law where the legal advice module can help that aren’t covered by another module?

    Yes. Our experts can also help you in the following cases, which aren’t covered by AXA-ARAG legal protection insurance: 

    • Major building conversions (costing more than CHF 200,000)
    • Questions about immigration law and residence permits for foreign nationals, e.g. applying for a C permit
    • Contract reviews, e.g. for large transactions such as buying a plot of land

  • Who would be well advised to take out Legal Advice PLUS by itself?

    We noted in our customer surveys that people attribute varying importance to the two most important needs in the legal protection field – insuring against the financial risks involved in a legal dispute and gaining easy access to professional legal advice.
