Partnerships & Commitments

Since 2008, AXA has been a partner of the Swiss Climate Foundation as a foundation member. The charitable foundation promotes SMEs that develop innovative solutions for climate protection or apply targeted measures to save CO2 and electricity. AXA also finances an ETH faculty chair and supports other initiatives such as myclimate's energy and climate laboratory.

Swiss Climate Foundation: Supporting SMEs

The Swiss Climate Foundation’s funding derives from the reimbursement of the CO2 incentive tax of the foundation members. AXA is one of the members. Since it was founded in 2008, around 1,300 SMEs have benefited from some 18 million francs. Their projects will allow them to save some 400,000 tonnes of CO2 in the next 10 years, due solely to efficiency measures. This is more than the annual heating emissions of the city of Bern.

Many SMEs lack the resources to invest in energy-saving measures, as well as the knowledge of where energy savings can best be made. The Swiss Climate Foundation advises SMEs and supports them financially. In this way they strengthen the positive impact of the incentive tax. Examples of the foundation's commitments:

  • Hotels that install woodchip heating
  • Industrial companies that optimize their production processes
  • SMEs that develop climate-friendly products, e.g. an energy-saving shower
  • Agricultural firms that convert to climate-friendly production
